PMBC Invitation to Supporters
Your Presence Matters – Please Join Us at the August 10 City Council Appeal Hearing
Dear Friends of Protect Mud Bay Cliffs,
On Monday, August 10 at 9:00 am, the Bellingham City Council will hear PMBC's appeal of the Hearing Examiner's approval of The Woods at Viewcrest subdivision.
This is likely the only opportunity for the City Council to see how many members of our community care about protecting Mud Bay, the coastal bluffs, and the surrounding neighborhoods.
We respectfully ask you to attend the hearing if your schedule permits.
Date: Monday, August 10, 2026
Time: 9:00-10:00 am
Location: Bellingham City Hall – Council Chambers
210 Lottie Street, Bellingham
You do not need to speak. Simply being present in the audience sends an important message that the issues raised by this project matter to the community.
During the hearing, PMBC will present evidence that significant questions remain regarding stormwater management, landslide hazards, shoreline protection, public safety, and compliance with City development regulations. We believe these issues should have been fully resolved before development rights were granted by the Hearing Examiner.
The City Council's decision will have lasting consequences—not only for Mud Bay and the surrounding neighborhood, but also for how future development proposals are reviewed throughout Bellingham.
If you have supported PMBC through your encouragement, volunteer work, or donations, we hope you will consider joining us in person on August 10.
Your presence will demonstrate that thoughtful, careful land-use decisions are important to our community.
If you’re unable to attend the meeting in person, please plan to join the meeting online. Council meetings are streamed live at cob.org/meetings, cob.org/btv, and on the City’s YouTube channel at youtube.com/@cityofbhamwa. Meetings are also broadcast on Comcast channels 321 (HD) and 10 (SD).
As always, we appreciate your desire to protect Mud Bay and are grateful for your continued support,
Protect Mud Bay Cliffs (PMBC)
P.S. If you plan to attend in person, please arrive at City Hall by 8:45 am to allow time for parking and seating.
A full audience at the start of the hearing will underscore the community's interest in this appeal.
